Het kabinet maakt vrijdag op de jaarlijkse herdenking van de afschaffing van de slavernij geen acutions voor het Nederlands slavernijverleden. The ministers of VVD, CDA, D66 and ChristenUnie did not have the time to go through a knop door and hack over this dangerous order, and have various bronzes on NOS.
Hiermee zijn zijn aan de nazaten van de tot slaaf gemaakten uit Suriname en het Caribisch gebied op termijn dus niet uitgesloten, benadrukken de Haagse bronnen. The cabinet wil eerst met betrokkenen einhoudelijk debate voeren over de hedendaagse gevolgen van de slavernij.

Premier Rutte noemde het onderwerp de afgelopen jaren ingewikkeld, “een dilema”, en e persoonlijke “zoektocht”, ook omdat het al zo lang geleden is gebeurd. “De vrag is of je mensen die vandaag leven verantwoordelijk kunt houden voor het verleden”, zei hij in 2020 tijdens een debate about institueel racism. CDA-leader Hoekstra vond justifies daarom “iets obligaats” hebben. Ook vreesde het vorige kabinet voor polarisatie in de samenleving.
Voorstanders van excuses zoals D66-minister Jetten en CU-leider Segers benadrukken dat heed van de voorouders nog steeds doorwerkt in discrimination en racisme and dat acutions tot verzoening kunnen leiden.
