EU-kopstuk Michelle in Qatar om te praten over gasleveringen

Charles Michel, deputy executive of the European Council, is in Qatar this week reflecting on Europe’s gas pipeline and the European energy crisis. Dat meldde een overheidsfunctionaris in Qatar. As expected, Michel will visit Qatar on Tuesday.

European countries are looking for alternatives to Russian gas due to the war in Ukraine and Qatar is one of the most important exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world. De Golfstaat levert nu vooral veel gas aan Asian afnemers en wil ook veel meer gaan leveren aan Europa. Vanwege de gascrisis zijn de Europese energieprijzen zeer sterk gestegen.

Volgens de overheidsfunctionaris zal Michel in the Qatarese capital Doha also talk about andere vraagstukken, including the war in Ukraine and over Afghanistan and Iran.
